The answer is a resounding YES!! This knife is insanely sharp, fits in my hand nicely, is a great intermediate length from my 8 inch chef’s knife. The tip is more curved than my smaller santoku so I can rock it to chop the veggies and mince herbs. I’ve only had it a couple of weeks, but I reach for it first now over all my Wusthofs. My Wusthofs are the Culinair stainless set and get quite slippery when wet or greasy, the Shun does not because of the innovative D shape to the handle…now I lust after the Ken Onion version! Don’t hesitate to spend the money on this knife, it is a lifetime investment…happy slicing and chopping!

By the way, this was a gift from a dear friend who gave me the aforementioned Wusthofs. He was afraid he was being redundant in his gifts when he sent me this knife and that I would razz him for his lack of creativity, instead I praised him to the heavens…really, this knife is fabulous no matter how many other great knives you may own! Thanks Arthur!!
