I have purchased other shears before. Heretofore, I had struggled to cut off fish fins. The Shun has no trouble cutting off tails, fins from fish such as Black sea bass. Hope Shun will provide instructions in the package as how to sharpen the blades.

I decided to buy the Shun shears based on my positive experience with a couple Shun knives and the good reviews of the shears. My expectations for these shears were high but the shears exceeded even my highest expectation. They are a lot sturdier than they appear in the pictures and go easily through any kitchen task. There is a bone groove on one blade so you can easily snip through small bones. The two halves come apart easily at the pivot for cleaning and sanitizing and pop right back together with a nice tight fit. You will not regret purchasing this fine kitchen tool.

These are heavy duty, great for cutting through chicken bones and trimming meat. They fit the hand very well, are high quality and worth the cost. It comes with a magnetic holder which I’ve put on my dishwasher so it’s immediatley close. I would buy it again.

These are excellent shears. Very durable and the attached tools such as the bottle opener, nut cracker, bone notch, lid lifter, etc., actually are useful.
Being able to separate the shears for washing after cutting something like chicken is very nice and sanitary. I’ve taken the blades apart many times for cleaning and they have not become loose and fit together nice and tight.
The shears don’t say Shun or have their markings. It’s made by Kershaw, the company that owns Shun and I don’t believe these shears are made in Japan at the Shun factory.
One complaint is not about the shears, but that in the 7 piece set of Shun knives it would have been nice to have one of the utility blades removed and this shear instead.
These shears are excellent and if you need a set I don’t think you will be disappointed. They should last a lifetime, even under hard use.

Nice, sharp shears, well made and comfortable to use. Come apart easily for cleaning. I have 3 Shun knives as well, 2 classics (granton chefs and paring knife), and a Shun Kaji chef knife, (pricey but worth the money). I work as a Chef and have found these knives hold an edge better then any thing else I’ve used, (Wusthof, Henckels etc.) I sharpen them every week or 2, and hit them with a steel daily. That’s all the maintence they require (and I use these commercially). They are very sharp, I recommend the Shun line to my cooks. My Shun classic developed a vertical crack near the tip of the blade, (it fell on the floor a few times). It may have contributed to the crack on the blade. Any way I sent it to there repair facility to see what they would do. Within a few weeks they sent me a brand new one! I doubt you’ll be disapointed with these shears, and Shun stands behind there cutlery.
